Prof. Gail S. Goodman holds a Distinguished Chair in Psychology in the University of California Davis and is the Director of its Center for Public Policy Research. The university is widely acknowledged for beginning the current scientific study of children's eyewitness memory as well as child victims' witnesses in legal settings. Professor Goodman has published extensively she has received grants from numerous sources and been recognized with various international and national prizes. She has provided advice to numerous government organizations and government agencies throughout the world regarding policies and studies related to way children are treated by the justice system. She acts as an expert consultant to the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center (formerly Multidisciplinary Interview Center) of the Sacramento County Child Protective Services. She is a fellow of many professional organizations including that of Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association (Divisions Experimental Psychology Developmental Psychology Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice American Psychology-Law Society Psychological Psychology of Women and Traumatic Stress 56). Professor Goodman also belongs to the Psychonomics Society, the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children and International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Professor Goodman was the president of American Psychological Association's three divisions: Division American Psychology Law Society, Division Developmental Psychology and Division Society for Family and Child policy and practice.
